A WOMAN who was stranded after her car ran out of petrol was raped by a ‘good Samaritan’ who stopped to help her.

The 48-year-old woman’s car broke down on a road in Michigan, when a man pulled over and offered to help her, she told Detroit television station WXYZ-TV.

Police have released surveillance footage from the petrol station where the man bought fuel for the woman’s car.

He helped re-fuel the woman’s car, then she thanked him and drove away.

However just a short distance away the woman’s car broke down again – it was then she noticed that the man had followed her.

He pulled a gun on her and forced her to remove her clothing.

"I wasn't paying attention. I was just trying to get home," she told the TV station. "He had me down. I didn't know if he was going to shoot me.

"I just thought about my grandbaby and my daughters. I thought I was dead," she said.

Police are now searching for the suspect, a white male in his 20s with a stocky build.
