A seven year old boy battling brain cancer has become a YouTube sensation after scoring a 69 yard touchdown in College football, gaining almost two million views.
Jack Hoffman and his fight against brain cancer won over the hearts of those involved with the college football programme as well as fans.
NFL prospect Rex Burkhead befriended the boy last year and became captain of the support network “Team Jack”.
Outfitted in a miniature uniform with Burkhead’s number on it he took the field during a fourth-and-1 play, he took a hand off from Taylor Martinez.
Jack started running left, but Martinez redirected him. Following his blockers he ran down the field for a 69 yard touchdown to the delight of the 60,174 at Memorial Stadium.
Jack was diagnosed with cancer in April 2011 and has had two surgeries. He’s now on a two week break from a 60 week chemotherapy regimen.
“It was a lot of emotions right at once,” Andy Hoffman, Jack’s father said. “Very emotional to see that. Husker fans have been so incredible to Jack and our family and especially to this cause.”
When asked what he thought about when he ran on to the field, Jack simply said, “Scoring a touchdown.”
