AN undercover cop posing as a hit man, records the moment 21-year-old married mother of two grins at the thought of having her husband killed, instead of having to divorce him.
Julia Merfield, a mother of two from Michigan, pleaded guilty to soliciting the murder of her husband – after an investigation into the murder plot included the video tape.
In the video, a grinning Mrs Merfield says, 'When I first decided to do this … it’s not that we weren’t getting along,' she says on the video. 'But … terrible as it sounds, it was easier than divorcing him.
She continued: 'You know, I didn’t have to worry about the judgment of my family, I didn’t have to worry about breaking his heart, all that stuff like this. It’s, like, how I got a clean getaway.'
It’s reported, she wanted her husband’s $400,000 life insurance policy, and promised to pay the hit man $50,000.
Talking about how the murder should happen, the mother of two tells the hit man, ‘The more shocked I am when it happens, the better, I just want to make it as non-suspicious as possible.’
After the plot was uncovered, Mrs Merfled's husband appealed to the judge to spare his wife jail time. However, Judge William Marietti decided to instead put a cap on the defendant's minimum sentence to six years.
She is to be sentenced July 30th reports the Huffington Post.
