RESCUERS are battling to find survivors after a private jet crashed in California.
Firefighters battled for hours to put out flames after a twin-jet Cessna Citation crashed into a hangar after landing at Santa Monica Airport in California.
The small business jet, which was landing at the airport, swerved off the runway and struck a nearby hangar.
Shortly after smashing in to the hanger the plane burst into flames.
Authorities have so far not revealed how many people were on board at the time of the crash, however they have said they are not hopeful of finding anyone alive in the wreckage.
It is not known if any crew were inside the airport hanger involved in the accident.
An eye witness told local TV station KABC-TV that it appeared as if the plane had made a perfectly normal landing, before veering into the hanger.
