A MAN sitting outside a shop in southern California was set on fire after an attacker threw a Molotov cocktail at him.

The incident, which took place outside the El Paisano Ranch Market, shows the attacker lighting the explosive device before hurling it at the victim.

The device just narrowly missed hitting a mother pushing her baby in a pram.

The victim is then seen running around the car park in flames before passersby helped extinguish the blaze.

Police have now released CCTV footage of the incident in the hopes of identifying the suspect.

The attack is believed to have been random, with police saying they do not believe it to have been gang related.

The victim, a man in his 50s, is recovering in hospital with severe burns to his face, hands and lower body.
