US police confirm Sinead O'Connor found safe after earlier alert
THE singer Sinead O'Connor has been found safe and well.
The Irish singer (49) had been reported missing yesterday evening and police had expressed concerns about her wellbeing.
A police spokesperson confirmed to independent.ie that Sinead O'Connor was found safe and well at 1.45pm local time (7.45pm).
"She was found safe and is no longer listed as missing or in danger," the spokesperson said.
Earlier yesterday, police in Chicago launched an investigation when they were told the singer had not been seen since she went on a bicycle ride in the suburb of Wilmette yesterday morning.
US police sent out an alert as they began a search for the singer.
"O’Connor reportedly left the Wilmette area for a bicycle ride at 6:00 AM and has not returned," the local police department said in a statement.
"The Wilmette police is seeking to check the well-being of Sinead O’Connor.
"A caller expressed concern for her well-being."
The police said that they did not know the singer's connection with Wilmette.
