Spotted: 'Gossip Girl' Blake Lively and movie star Ryan Reynolds revealing hardcore romantic tendencies as they tied the knot last Sunday in a ceremony at the Boone Hall Plantation -- the picturesque venue just outside Charleston, South Carolina, that served as the backdrop for classic tearjerker The Notebook.
The Green Lantern co-stars, who have been dating for a year, wanted to create a home-spun, rustic vibe for their big day -- which they did in super-dramatic style. Domestic diva Martha Stewart designed the event ("from sofas to chandeliers"), which will be featured exclusively in the December issue of her eponymous Weddings magazine. But even she can't stop the details leaking -- such as the guests munching on white cheddar popcorn served in paper bags featuring the couple's initials 'B' and 'R', separated with a heart, as a children's choir from the local First Baptist Church serenaded the party.
Christian Louboutin is taking credit for creating custom-kicks for the bride, who wore a Marchesa dress by Georgina Chapman ("hand-draped silk tulle bodice, adorned with crystal and rose gold embroidery") to walk down the aisle (to Frankie Valli's Can't Take My Eyes Off You) carrying a bouquet of white and peach roses and peonies.
Christopher Bailey outfitted the groom and his posse with bespoke Burberry suits featuring handcrafted leather suspenders. The 60 guests -- including the bride's Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants co-stars America Ferrera, Alexis Bledel and Amber Tamblyn, performers Bette Midler and Florence Welch -- wrapped up the festivities by gathering on the plantation's Cotton Dock where everyone was invited to light "wish" lanterns for the couple's future which were then set loose to float up into the night sky.
Here's hoping the couple took total advantage of their week-long honeymoon. In an interview with Allure magazine just weeks before the surprise wedding, Lively revealed: "'I've always wanted a big family... Oh, I'd love 30 children if I could..."
Split sealed with a hiss
So much for a picture-perfect divorce. The supposedly amicable split of media darlings Heidi Klum and Seal has disintegrated into a nasty hissing match that suggests their seven-year marriage -- which produced three kids and mountains of press about their enviable love life, from the proposal in an igloo he crafted by hand on a glacier in Whistler to the annual paparazzi-friendly renewal of their wedding vows -- was about as authentic as Kim K's trip down the aisle.
The couple, who filed for divorce in April after separating last January, seem unable to keep a lid on simmering resentments that flared after Heidi was recently photographed cuddling a bodyguard who has been on the family payroll for the last four years, promoting Seal to lash out that his ex could have "showed a little more class and at least waited until we separated before deciding to fornicate with the help".
Klum retaliated with a one-for-two punch last week, going on Katie Couric's new TV show to deny any adultery and confirm her romance ("it's new, it just started ... I don't know where it's going") with bodyguard Martin Kirsten.
"He has a very unique choice of words; I'm used to them," Klum said bitterly in reference to Seal's stinging accusations. "I don't love that. It's obviously not true."
The former Victoria's Secret Angel and Project Runway hostess also admitted she is no longer holding out for a storybook romance. "I'm someone who believes in a fairytale and, when I said 'I do,' I meant forever," she said. "But I don't know, you never know what happens. Life changes."
Fabricated sweet dreams
Most amusing analysis of news from the runways at NY Fashion Week: New York magazine's reaction to the buzz that 28-year-old Olympic swimming sensation Ryan Lochte is in talks to develop a line of branded bedding made out of moisture-resistant fabric. "You may not be able to sleep with a ubiquitous grinning presence at New York Fashion Week," it bubbled. "But pretty soon, you might be able to sleep on him."
Monica eyes new book deal
She's back. Kind of. Monica Lewinsky is said to be shopping a top-secret book project among New York's most powerful publishers -- who are, reportedly, so intrigued by what the former White House intern might have to say that they have willingly signed non-disclosure agreements just to take a meeting with the Manhattan-based handbag designer.
A story in the NY Post reads: "It's unclear who the front runners are, but, says an insider familiar with the project, 'I'm sure every major publisher was interested in hearing what she had to say.""
According to publishing types familiar with this type of "project" negotiation, the item sounds like it's to gauge potential interest levels in a 14-year-old story that was pretty well covered when Monica told all to Andrew Morton for his 1999 book, Monica's Story.
A rep for Lewinsky, who hasn't been in the public eye much since she completed a course at the London School of Economics in 2005, refused to bite either way, saying only: "I cannot comment on anything at this point."
Silence, possibly stunned, from Camp Clinton.
