US court rules lesbian egg donor has parental rights
THE Florida Supreme Court has ruled that a woman who donated an egg to her lesbian partner has parental rights to the child.
Yesterday, a lower court was ordered to fix custody and visitation rights.
The case involves two lesbians who began raising the child together. One donated an egg that was fertilised and implanted in the other.
But the couple split two years after the birth, with the birth mother leaving the US for Australia.
