Two police officers have been arrested after a six-year-old boy was shot dead in Louisiana this week.
Authorities confirmed that Jeremy Mardis was hit by five bullets in the head and chest after officers pursued his father's car.
The boy's father has been hospitalised since the incident on the Tuesday in the area of Marksville.
"Jeremy Mardis, six years old, he didn't deserve to die like that," Louisiana State Police Col. Michael Edmonson told CNN.
"We took some of the body cam footage.
"I'm not gonna talk about it, but I'm gonna tell you this -- it is the most disturbing thing I've seen and I will leave it at that."
Two officers, Norris Greenhouse Jr. and Derrick Stafford, have been charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.
It is unclear how and why the police pursuit began.
