Tragic Hoffman was trapped in love triangle, say diaries
The actor Philip Seymour Hoffman revealed in private diaries shortly before his death that he was trapped in a love triangle between the mother of his three children and a new girlfriend, according to reports.
The star reportedly wrote that he was "caught in between" the two women and at the same time was "ashamed" of his drug use and excessive drinking.
He was found dead of a suspected heroin overdose in his New York apartment on February 2. Diaries found there by investigators reportedly reveal he was struggling over his relationships, according to unnamed police sources cited in the 'New York Post'. The leaked contents of the diaries reveal Hoffman (46) was apparently racked by guilt over substance abuse and his private life.
At the time of his death, he was alone and living in an apartment near the home of Mimi O'Donnell, his partner, and their three children. The diary entries were reportedly often rambling and sometimes started out written coherently before becoming an illegible scrawl. Hoffman wrote that he was haunted by "demons", was "ashamed that he was hanging out and drinking" and was attending Narcotics Anonymous meetings. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
