Colombia's fattest baby has been forced to go on a strict vegetable and fruit juice diet.

Santiago, an eight-month-old boy, weighs 3.1 stone (20kg).

He is being helped by the Chubby Hearts Foundation after his excessive weight began to cause him serious health issues.

Doctors say too much food and constant milk bottles, combined with a metabolic syndrome and a compulsive eating habit among other problems, have caused him to gain too much weight.

His mother said: "He looks very cute like this but his health is not very good, so I think he should receive help so he is able to get back to his normal weight."

Doctors hope to have Santiago's weight down to 17 pounds (8kg) in six to 12 months.
