Teen guns down 14-year-old friend after Facebook feud over boy
A FACEBOOK feud over a boy led to one 14-year-old girl shooting dead another in broad daylight.
Endia Martin was killed after she was struck in the back by a bullet.
The shooter, who has not been named due to her age, used a .38-caliber handgun to kill the girl.
She sprayed bullets into a crowd of people where the victim was standing - a 16-year-old girl is recovering from minor injuries.
"What would have been, under any other circumstance, probably a fistfight between 14-year-old girls, because they were fighting over a boy, turned into a murder," Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy told the Chicago Tribune.
"You introduce a firearm and you have a murder."
The girl arrested in connection with the shooting was said to be a promising young basketball player.
The girls were said to be friends who’d recently had a falling out over a boy on Facebook.
"Endia was smart, intelligent. She liked to dance and to sing. She didn't deserve this," Lauren Joseph, the Endia’s 29-year-old cousin, told the Tribune.
