Shooting suspect in 'critical but stable condition'

A US Army spokesman says the man authorities say went on a shooting spree at the Fort Hood army post in Texas is in critical but stable condition.
Col John Rossi said yesterday that Maj Nidal Malik Hasan (right) was still hospitalised in Texas. He was taken off a ventilator on Saturday.
Mr Hasan was shot in an exchange of gunfire during Thursday's attack.
The military moved him on Friday to Brooke Medical Centre in San Antonio, about 240km southwest of Fort Hood.
Thirteen people were killed and 29 others wounded in the attack at Fort Hood. At least 16 victims remained in hospital with gunshot wounds last night, and seven were in intensive care.
Mr Hasan was breathing on his own after being taken off the ventilator, but officials wouldn't say whether he could talk.
