Sailor in iconic WW2 kiss image dies
THE sailor who claimed he was the man in the iconic WW2 kiss picture has died.
Glenn McDuffie is pictured here with with Alfred Eisenstaedt's Life shot of a sailor, who McDuffie claims is him, embracing a nurse in a white uniform in New York's Times Square,
They are celebrating victory over Japan in World War Two.
The passionate kiss between two strangers symbolised the end of the bloodiest conflict the world had ever seen.
He died at his home in Dallas, Texas, aged 86.
His claims were backed up in 2007 when a forensic artist said McDuffie's bone structure matched that of the man in the picture.
