Six great white sharks have been spotted just off California's Orange County coast last week.
A fire boat on patrol captured the moment one of the terrifying creatures approached their vessel.
Crew members were able to capture glimpses of the mammal as it swam just below the water surface.
Following the sighting, maritime scientists identified the animal as a great white shark, one of earth's largest predatory fish.
Local life guards were immediately alerted and another fire boat was sent to sea to monitor the area.
Upon their arrival they reported at least six sharks circling around the vessel.
They all measured around 5-6ft in length.
Great whites can grow up to an average of 15-20ft and weigh up to 5000 pounds.
