President to hand out rocks from Chile mine
The Chilean president will present rocks from the San Jose mine to British prime minister David Cameron and Queen Elizabeth as he embarks on a European "victory tour". Sebastian Pinera hopes to use kudos gained by the smooth rescue of the 33 miners to forge trade links with Britain, France and Germany.
The triumphant tone of the visit was set with a visit to the Cabinet war rooms in Whitehall last night. Mr Pinera revealed he kept a copy of Churchill's 1940 "blood, toil, tears and sweat" speech by his side as rescuers battled to save the miners.
He also met Alex Ferguson who presented him with a signed jersey.
