PayPal refunds boy death donations as father faces murder charge

Online payment site PayPal is giving refunds to people who donated to a fundraising campaign for a US family whose toddler died in a hot car.

A fund was set up at after the death of 22-month-old Cooper Harris on June 18.

But his father, Justin Harris, faces murder and child cruelty charges after he told police in Cobb County, Georgia, that he left the boy in his pick-up truck for about seven hours when he forgot to drop him off at nursery.

PayPal spokeswoman Adriana Higuera said the company will soon be issuing refunds to customers who used PayPal to donate to the campaign, which raised more than 22,000 US dollars (£12,000). spokesman Michael Blasco said the Harris campaign has been removed from its site.
