TEN-time world champion boxer, Oscar De La Hoya, is being sued by an escort who claims that he assaulted her during a drug-fuelled orgy in a New York hotel room.

Angelica Maria Cecora, 25, is also demanding $5 million (€3.8 m) and an apology from the Olympic gold medal winner, who is thought to have earned more money than any other boxer from the sport.

The model turned escort claims that married De La Hoya, 38, intimidated her when she refused to have sex for a third time following an orgy which included another woman in the Ritz Carlton Hotel overlooking Central Park last March.

She is suing for assault, battery, false imprisonment and intentional infliction of emotional distress, all of which the boxer denies.

Speaking outside the Manhattan Supreme Court, Miss Cecora said: "He should apologise. He came off as a nice, genuine person when I met him, but things got out of control. He took advantage of me in every possible way."

Miss Cecora said that she was not bringing criminal charges against De La Hoya because the sex between them was consensual.

But she alleges that she has been left emotionally damaged and unable to work after the boxer stopped her leaving her room while he dressed up in her clothes and took drugs. He has previously admitted dressing up in women's clothing after taking drugs.

De La Hoya won 10 world titles in six different weight classes before his retirement in 2009, earning an estimated $700 million (€534 m) from pay-to-view television.

His lawyer, Judd Burstein, told the court: "There has never been a more frivolous case. I'm embarrassed to have to argue this case."
