Obama not concerned by Palin as she considers presidential run
US President Barack Obama says he respects Sarah Palin's political skills but that he hasn't thought about the possibility of facing the Republican former vice presidential candidate in the 2012 presidential election.
Mr Obama acknowledged that Ms Palin "had a strong base of support in the Republican Party", but said he spent most of his time focused on being "the best possible president".
In an interview taped yesterday with ABC television, the American president said that if he did a good job "the politics will take care of itself".
Ms Palin told ABC last week that she was considering a presidential run.
When asked if she thought she could defeat the current president, the former Alaska governor replied that she "believes so".
