Newt's cruise with wife costs him his 16 staff
The wife of Newt Gingrich, the US presidential hopeful, has been accused of fatally undermining his campaign by persuading him to take a luxurious Mediterranean cruise, writes Alex Spillius.
The former House of Representatives speaker insisted his bid for the 2012 Republican nomination was still viable, despite his senior staff of 16 resigning over the holiday.
"I am committed to running the solutions-oriented campaign I set out to run," he said. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
