Man (22) charged over death of baby girl, who was kidnapped, battered and raped
A 22-year-old man has been charged over the death of a 15 month old baby girl, who was kidnapped, battered and raped before she died.
Kyle Parker was initially charged with the obstruction of justice after police found the body of little Shaylyn Ammerman along the bank of a river in Indiana.
According to court records, Parker - who had been a friend of the family - now faces additional charges of murder, rape, kidnapping, child molesting, aggravated battery and strangulation.
Parker was arrested last Thursday after the remains of one year old Shaylyn was discovered in a remote area near the town of Spencer where they both lived.
Shaylyn's grandmother Tamera Morgan has revealed that Parker had visited the her home, where the baby lived, on several occasions.
Her husband and two grown sons, including Shaylyn's father, Justin Ammerman, also lived at this address. The child's mother, Jessica Stewart, shared custody of Shaylyn.
Parker was drinking with Mrs Morgan's two sons at her home on Tuesday night. The next morning Shaylyn was reported missing from her crib.
After a two day search, Shaylyn's body was found along the bank of White River. A forensic pathologist ruled that Shaylyn's death was homicide by asphyxiation.
Parker will appear before a judge today in the Owen County Courthouse in Spencer.
