Ku Klux Klan hold march in support of confederate flag in South Carolina

There was a heavy police presence on the streets of Columbia, in the US state of South Carolina today, as members of the Ku Klux Klan marched to protest against the banning of the confederate flag.

The White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan - who were not wearing their customary robes - marched down the streets of Columbia.

Their rally took place shortly after another rally held by the Black Educators for Justice.

Police were at the scene in a bid to quell tensions between both camps.

Members of the KKK marched to jeering and drum beats from people protesting against their march.

Authorities in Columbia are appealing for calm on both sides.
