Knox's released former boyfriend to visit her
AMANDA Knox will be visited by her former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito in Seattle before Christmas. Mr Sollecito's lawyer, Luca Maori, said his client would travel to the US "probably by the end of the year".
Ms Knox had just begun dating Mr Sollecito, now aged 27, in Perugia in 2007 when her British flatmate Meredith Kercher was stabbed to death.
Both Ms Knox and Mr Sollecito were freed on Monday after four years in an Italian prison when an appeal court overturned their convictions for murder.
Ms Knox made a tearful return home on Wednesday to Seattle, where she has largely been viewed as an innocent girl trapped abroad in an archaic justice system.
She has already reconnected with David Johnsrud, known as 'DJ', her former teenage boyfriend before she went to Italy.
The Knox family has invited Mr Sollecito to stay in Seattle. Mr Maori said his client would take up the offer but was currently "shaken and afraid to go out".
He said Mr Sollecito "needs to get back on his feet and resume a normal life" before travelling.
Mr Knox said his daughter and Mr Sollecito had been able to speak together once after they were cleared.
He said: "The only time they really got to talk was after the verdict, when they were getting ready to be whisked away in the cars. They went back to the prison in the same car.
"They hold something in common that very few people have ever had to deal with." (© Daily Telegraph, London)
