Over the past week a woman in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was killed by her two-year-old son after he grabbed a gun as it slid out from beneath the car driver's seat.

It was the latest in the series of at least 23 shooting incidents involving small children, the 'Washington Post' reported.

This is five more than during the same period last year.

In 18 cases, the toddlers accidentally turned the gun on themselves, with nine being killed.

Two people have died in five incidents in which the child has fired at somebody else.

In another incident, a three-year-old boy killed his nine-year-old sister in Birmingham, Alabama.
