Crash baby born an orphan

Nick Allen

A baby has been born an orphan after his young Orthodox Jewish parents died in a car crash as they headed to a hospital for the birth.

Nathan and Raizy Glauber, both 21, were involved in a fatal collision in Brooklyn, New York.

Police said the parents were both pronounced dead but the child was delivered alive at the scene early on Saturday and is in a serious condition in hospital.

The minicab driver taking them also survived and was said to be in a stable condition.

The couple were being driven to the hospital when their Toyota vehicle was in a collision with a BMW at a road junction. Both the driver and passenger of the BMW fled the scene on foot and were being sought by police. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
