GEORGE Clooney sure is the host with the most. Tonight The Descendants actor is expecting the President and 150 close celeb pals for dinner to raise money for Obama’s reelection campaign.

The meal, held at Clooney’s Canyon home, is expected to raise $12m for the Democratic campaign – making it the biggest presidential fundraiser in US history.

Amongst the guests who have RSVP’d are staunch Democrat supporters, Barbra Streisand Robert Downey Jr and Tobey Maguire. Tickets were sold for a premium of $40,000 a head, but also attending will be two lucky members of the public.

Clooney held an online lottery where anyone who donated $23 to the democratic party would be entered into a draw to win a seat at the head table with Obama and Clooney.

Top celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck will cater the event and Obama is set to address the guests.

Clooney has been a strong supporter of Obama since 2006, and within weeks of the President's inauguration in 2009, the actor was invited to the Oval Office where he urged the new administration to take a stronger stance on Darfur, the war-torn region of southern Sudan.

Clooney's offer to host the dinner was not the Obama campaign's only option, with aides turning down the actress Reese Witherspoon's offer of the use of her estate. They have lost the support of another film star, Matt Damon, who is now a vocal critic of the president.
