Body of crash driver catapulted on to road sign 20ft up
A driver whose car rolled over several times on a Los Angeles freeway was thrown so far that his body landed on a road sign at least 20ft (6m) above the ground.
California Highway Patrol officer Chad Guin said the crash happened on Interstate 5 north of the city centre at 7am on Friday.
The road was reopened after firefighters removed the body with a firetruck ladder. Mr Guin said the victim had been identified but his name would not be released until relatives have been informed.
Officers had earlier climbed a wooden ladder and covered the body with a sheet. The victim was said to be a 20-year-old man.
The car came to rest under the sign. Another vehicle was hit by debris but Mr Guin said he did not know if it was involved.
