US Vice-President Joe Biden - a two-time candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination - said he believes businessman Donald Trump could win the White House in 2016.
"Yes, I think it's possible,'' Mr Biden said in an interview on NBC' yesterday, ahead of President Barack Obama's final State of the Union address.
"I hope that if that were to occur - and I hope it doesn't, because I have fundamentally different views - I'd hope that he gets a lot more serious about the issues, a lot more serious about gaining knowledge about how this nation functions and foreign policy and domestic policy, but look, that's a long way off."
In a separate interview with CNN, Mr Biden claimed that Bernie Sanders has "credibility" among Democratic primary voters that Hillary Clinton lacks on income inequality.
"I think that Bernie is speaking to a yearning that is deep and real and he has credibility on income inequality," he said when asked why Clinton is struggling against Sanders according to early polls.
