Hi °C | Lo °C AN American discount store which sells all its items for just 99 cents is looking for space on Rodeo Drive, the stretch of high-end fashion shops in Beverly Hills.
The 99 Cents Only chain, which sells food and household goods, has been a rare business success story during the US downturn.
It is now hoping to open its own flagship branch alongside luxury brands such as Chanel, Gucci and Jimmy Choo, where usual customers include celebrities like Mariah Carey and Victoria Beckham.
The exclusive three-block stretch featured in the film 'Pretty Woman', in which Julia Roberts' character is snubbed by snobbish sales assistants. 99 Cents Only will likely get a similar reception from the retailers of Rodeo Drive. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
