'30 Rock' star Baldwin hints at run for NY mayor

Alec Baldwin is considering running for mayor of New York, despite not being registered to vote in the city.
Baldwin (53), a lifelong Democrat, is flirting with the idea of campaigning for the office in 2013.
But the actor is listed as a voter in Suffolk County, on the east of Long Island, where he has a home in one of the most expensive residential areas in the US.
He has an apartment in Manhattan, however, and will have time to change his registration before the race.
Baldwin's chances of becoming mayor have improved markedly following the scandal involving the Democrat congressman Anthony Weiner, who had been considered a likely front-runner to succeed Michael Bloomberg.
Mr Baldwin's spokesman said he "wouldn't rule out" him standing. The actor himself then posted a message on Twitter, which he recently joined, saying: "It's a long way until November of 2013."
But in a campaign Baldwin would have to overcome fallout from his own private life.
In 2007 he apologised to his 11-year-old daughter Ireland on TV after calling her a "thoughtless little pig" in a ranting voicemail message.
Baldwin currently stars in the award-winning US sitcom '30 Rock', but his contract finishes next year. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
