PRINCESS Diana's niece was cleared yesterday of assault charges by a South African court.

Lady Amelia Spencer (18) was accused of attacking a man on crutches and throwing a cigarette at him during a row outside a McDonald's in Cape Town.

Her co-accused, John Barbis (24), was ordered to do 50 hours' community service.

The alleged victim, Riccie Cinti (27), was reportedly in a taxi which jumped a queue, sparking a stand-off with Lady Amelia and Barbis.

Lady Amelia was alleged to have tossed a cigarette at Mr Cinti, who was on crutches after a football accident. He claimed to have suffered a jaw injury in the alleged assault after being kicked and punched.
