President to fly to South Africa tomorrow

PRESIDENT Michael D Higgins is to travel to South Africa for the state memorial of Nelson Mandela.

The President accompanied by Sabina Higgins will depart Dublin tomorrow, arriving in Johannesburg Monday.

They will attend the State memorial service for the former President in Johannesburg on Tuesday morning.

The service is in the FNB stadium.

It is expected that President Higgins will pay his respects to the remains of Nelson Mandela at Union Buildings Johannesburg on Wednesday morning.

He is expected to depart Johannesburg  late Wednesday, returning to Dublin on Thursday morning.
