11 die in Nigerian church bombings

At least 11 people were killed and about 30 injured when twin car bombs hit a Protestant church in a major military establishment in Nigeria.

A bus laden with explosives first rammed into St Andrew Military Protestant Church in the military barracks in Jaji in Kaduna state at about noon, the director of army public relations Brigadier General Bola Koleoso, said. A car parked just outside exploded 10 minutes later, as people fled the first blast, he said.

Olly Murs at top of UK charts – again

Olly Murs secured the fourth number one UK single of his career as his Flo Rida-assisted track 'Troublemaker' shifted more than 120,000 copies last week to beat the comeback single from Girls Aloud to the top of the chart.

The girls made it 16 top five hits with charity single 'Something New', raising money for Children In Need, while boyband One Direction dropped two places to number three with 'Little Things', according to the Official Charts Company. Rihanna's 'Unapologetic' entered the album chart at number one.

'Gangnam Style' takes out Bieber

South Korean rapper PSY's 'Gangnam Style' has become YouTube's most-viewed video of all time.

YouTube revealed in a posting on its trends blog that 'Gangnam Style' had been viewed 805 million times at the weekend, surpassing Justin Bieber's 'Baby', which has had 803 million views. PSY's video has become a global sensation, with many people around the world mimicking his 'Gangnam Style' dance.

Magic for Rowling in fast house sale

The former home of Harry Potter creator JK Rowling has been snapped up just three weeks after going on the market.

The detached house in the Merchiston area of Edinburgh is understood to have sold for significantly more than the asking price of offers over £2.25m (€2.8m). Estate agent Rettie and Co said the property listing for 1 Abbotsford Park attracted more than 16,000 visits on its website.

Pope to cardinals: 'Be like Jesus'

Pope Benedict XVI has told his six new cardinals to resist the allure of power and instead be like Jesus and focus on spreading the Christian faith.

Pope Benedict celebrated a Mass yesterday in St Peter's Basilica with the cardinals. In his homily, he told his new collaborators that Jesus had no political ambitions. He said: "To be like Jesus, then, means not letting ourselves be allured by the worldly logic of power, but bringing into the world the light of truth and God's love."
