The former Total Wipeout presenter, who lives in London, chose to spend the milestone birthday bash in her native Dublin, shunning any over-the-top celebrations for low-key dinner and drinks.

A vintage-styled Yvonne Keating, who has been close with Amanda since their modelling days in the late 1990s, joined the celebrations, as did former model-turned Fair City-actress Vivienne Connolly, Peter Mark's Creative Director Michael Doyle and celebrity makeup artist Paula Callan of Buff cosmetics.

Castleknock native Amanda turned 40 on June 16 and celebrated in London with a buttercream birthday cake and several cocktails.

And the small screen star who famously quit Twitter for one month earlier this year is back  on the social networking site with a bang. She began her series of tweets, by saying: "Here we go!! 40th in Dublin," followed by another message, "And so it begins .... Bday celebrations Dublin style," alongside a photo of her with her close group of friends.

Meanwhile, Amanda, who ended her engagement to rugby player Craig McMullen last year, said she is still single and isn't looking for a relationship.

“I’m very happily single,” she said in February. “It’s quite unnerving when people ask you, ‘Are you single?’ — with that pity in their voice.

“It’s a great thing to be independent and I would never define myself by my relationship status. It’s OK if you don’t have a boyfriend, it’s OK if you’re not married — I have a wonderful life.”
