Limerick native Madeline who is dating Transformer star Jack Reynor says they used to box together while living in LA and says it had a hugely beneficial impact on their relationship."We were doing a lot of boxing together in LA," she told the Herald.

"Our trainers say those who box together stay together. So that was a motivation."So there you have it -- quick jabs and upper cuts help keep feelings of frustration at bay.Jack and Madeline have been dating for almost a year: they stepped out together at this year's IFTA Awards after flirting over Twitter.

When Jack jetted off to LA weeks later, Madeline followed suit."We had a house in LA," she said. "It was good that we were together and experiencing it together.

"You don't feel as alone over there if you're with someone from back home.LA is a huge place so it's nice having someone there. When Jack had time off we were having adventures -- it was fun."Jack's star continues to soar.

The Blessington native has landed a part in award-winning director Gerard Barrett's upcoming feature Glassland.Reynor will share the screen with Academy Award nominated Australian actress Toni Collette.

Filming will begin on January 8."It's important to have a balance in what you do and your career," he told the Herald."You need to focus not only on big budget action films but also the smaller more independent films because that's where you make a name for yourself in terms of performances."
