Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are reportedly spending time apart to “re-evaluate” their relationship.
The Hollywood stars have been dating for more than two years, but in recent months speculation has surfaced that they are experiencing a rocky patch. Now it seems they have decided to take a break to see if they have a future together.
“There was a realisation before Thanksgiving that they took things way too fast and were rushing toward a marriage that neither of them particularly needed,” a source told RadarOnline.
“They’ve decided to take a break to re-evaluate their romance.”
The insider insists the pair haven’t officially split yet, but are seriously considering whether they can make their relationship work.
While it was previously reported that they were experiencing difficulties because 33-year-old Ryan was eager to settle down, it has now been suggested that Eva is the one keen to take the next step.
“Gosling is the one who is undecided, but Eva wanted to have his babies,” a source revealed.
Whatever they choose to do, the stars will be spending more time together next year because Eva stars in Ryan’s directorial debut How to Catch a Monster. The release of the movie will see Eva and Ryan travelling around the world on promotional duties, with the Hollywood hunk eager to ensure the film is a hit.
“The real question is how Eva is going to figure into Ryan’s plans,” the source added. “They both know they need some kind of resolution in their relationship before they go out and promote their movie, in which Ryan directed Eva in a very big part.
“At the end of the day they are both so uncertain about their future.”
While it may seem like the romance is on shaky ground, those close to the pair are still confident they can work things out.
“Don’t be surprised if these two resurface together for New Year’s,” the source concluded.
