Rihanna stars in Balmain 2014 campaign
The celebrity-filled spring/summer 2014 campaigns are coming in thick and fast.
First it was Lady Gaga for Versace and now, Rihanna has been announced as the face of Balmain's 2014 offering.
If you were looking for an early indicator, she's already worn Balmain on her Diamonds World Tour this year, however, it was still anyone's game as she mixed up pieces with Adidas Originals, Kokon to Zai, Jeremy Scott, Versace, Givenchy, Balenciaga, Raf Simons and her own costume designger, Adam Selman.
The shamelessly Eighties/Nineties throwback campaign shot in New York by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin features the Monster singer decked out in a blue chainmail off the shoulder sweater and pink monster houndstooth Oriental inflected suit - complete with lace boots and gold toe caps.
Olivier Rousteing, Balmain's creative director, told WWD : "In front of the camera, she makes you feel like she is the only girl in the world. When the woman that inspires you wears your creations, your vision feels complete."
The campagin's creative direction was by Atelier Franck Durand but it was styled by Rihanna's own stylist, Mel Ottenberg, ensuring that Rihanna's own style identity remained firmly in place.
