Chris Brown is redeemed among Hollywood's A-list at Elton John's Oscar bash
“That night was the deepest regret of my life, the biggest mistake,” Chris Brown says of assaulting his on-off girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.
The high profile couple have set tongues wagging in recent months with speculation over their reunion. But after revealing their reconciliation at the Grammy’s earlier this month, there’s no doubt about it.
And Chris, who is promoting a new album and desperately trying to revamp his tarnished image, opened up about that fateful night three years ago. Since he was found guilty of assaulting the Bajan pop star, his concerts and albums have been boycotted by anti-domestic violence groups. He was sentenced to a five-year probation and six months of community service by a court after admitting to the assault.
“But she loves me – what can I say?,” he told The Mirror. “I’m forgiven… but, yes, I worked hard for it,' he added, suggesting that the couple had put the incident behind them even if other people hadn't.
“Sometimes you row, you fight, with the one you love and things get said, stuff spirals,” he added.
One thing is for certain, Hollywood has certainly forgiven him. Chris was the man of the hour at Elton John's Oscar viewing party - which he attended without his other half. A host of celebrities lined up to pose with the controversial singer, including Steven Tyler, Kim Kardashian and Nicki Minaj. And he was greeted with a huge embrace from party host Elton John.
