Newly retired GAA legend Paul Galvin and his girlfriend Louise Duffy are famously private when it comes to their relationship, but even she couldn't contain her pride.
Duffy, who presents the breakfast show on Today FM, has been dating Galvin for over two years and she tweeted two simple words after he announced his retirement from inter-county football last night.
"Very proud," she wrote accompanied by a photo of her other half in his green and gold jersey.
He announced his shock retirement last night after Kerry's loss to Dublin.
“I am proud to say I won All Irelands for Kerry and I am satisfied that I gave the cause everything I had in me.
He was predicted to stay in the Kerry jersey for at least one more season and the news of his retirement has come as a surprise in the sporting community.
He has won four All Irelands as well as three All Stars throughout his lengthy career and was named Footballer of the Year in 2009.
Meanwhile, Louise's career is going from strength to strength at Today FM as his her personal life.
The pair are living together in Dublin and she said she still can't understand the public fascination with their relationship.
“We are very happy, we have great fun together. We are happy out," she said last year.
“I hate talking about the relationship to be honest, I can’t get my head around people being interested in our love life."
