Orla surprised to see her dress on Kate's mum
IRISH designer Orla Kiely has admitted she was "surprised" to see Kate Middleton's mother wearing one of her designs on her first visit to her grandson, Prince George of Cambridge.
The designer said yesterday she didn't know Carole Middleton planned to wear the dress but that she looked "so great" in it.
The grey silk dress has now completely sold out on the designer's website and interested customers have to join a waiting list.
"It was such a special occasion for her, so it was lovely," said Ms Kiely.
The Irish designer is a firm favourite of the Middleton family, with the Duchess of Cambridge previously seen wearing Orla Kiely dresses on two occasions.
Ms Kiely said that despite dressing celebrities around the world, she was "very happy" to remain behind the scenes.
"I have been recognised a few times, but it's quite scary," she said, speaking at the launch of the new Orla Kiely for Kenco coffee mug.
Her business is based in London, where she lives with her husband and business partner Dermott Rowan and their two sons.
The mug features a colourful coffee bean print designed specially for Kenco.
The 70,000 limited edition mugs will only be available in Ireland with special packs of Kenco Millicano coffee from mid-August .
