IRISH model Emma Quinlan and internet millionaire pal Niall Harbison are planning a trip to North Korea.

Quinlan revealed last month she is mourning the death of her pet snake Squirt, who modelled in several shoots with her.

The pair will head off to the dictator-led country in 2014, but no date has been set as they've to apply for visas before they book their flights.

They have both been on adventurous travels before, with Emma visiting Chernobyl last year and Niall travelling to Cuba and Zimbabwe.

Niall sold his social media company Simply Zesty to UTV last year for €5m and now runs his own food blog Lovin' Dublin as well as new company PR Slides.

Emma had a busy year herself, taking part in TV3's Celebrity Apprentice show, having previously starred in the Charity ICA Bootcamp.

North Korea comes in second-last to Eritrea on the Press Freedom Index which isn't welcome news to the social media guru.

He joked on Twitter that while he can't wait for the trip, he probably won't be posting photos on his Instagram account. Emma confirmed to the Herald that she was going with Niall and her reasoning is that she'll "see a part of the world most don't".

Niall described the adventure as "just a bit of craic" and as "something different to do". He'll be booking the trip in the New Year.

No one in the country has access to the internet and only a privileged few can use the North Korean Intranet, a network limited to government-approved websites.
