Author E.L. James wants Ian Somerhalder for the lead role
If Fifty Shades of Grey author E.L. James gets what she wants, then let us introduce you to the real-life Christian Grey.
Vampire Diaries actor Ian Somerhalder has been handpicked by the erotic author to star in the upcoming movie adaptation of the hit thriller. Nothing has been confirmed for the roles of Christian Grey or Anastasia Steele, although nearly every young Hollywood actor's name has been thrown into the pot.
The movie has yet to begin filming, or even finalised casting, but speculation is rife as to who will fill the very big shoes of Christian, and everyone from James Franco to Ryan Gosling are reportedly being considered. The official Fifty Shades of Grey film cast is yet to be announced and everyone from Ed Westwick to Alexander Skarsgard have been linked to the role.
Although Ian, who is dating his Vampire Diaries co-star Nina Dobrev, has yet to comment on the role and his Hollywood counterparts, including Emma Robert, have launched an informal campaign for Ryan Gosling to land the part.
