Kate Moss, Gwyneth Paltrow and Beyoncé have all got their hands on the duffle, by Saint Laurent, so what's so special about it?
It all started last August when Gwyneth Paltrow strolled through LAX airport looking achingly cool with a slate grey handbag hanging off her arm. As was to be revealed a matter of days later, said handbag was in fact the very first glimpse of Hedi Slimane's work at storied fashion house Yves Saint Laurent, who had hired him as creative director five months previously.
So what's all the fuss we hear you say? Well, the style is classically clean so won't outdate and it's part of Slimane's first ever collection for Saint Laurent, so it will always hold credence and therefore value. It's certainly a lot of money but if you are lucky enough to have that kind of moola and are in the market for a new 'It bag', then this one's a winner, particularly in black or grey.
Fast forward six months, the controversial axing of 'Yves' and a lukewarm-received debut collection, and that very bag sported by Gwyneth is now the bag to be seen with. Named simply the 'duffle', everyone from Kate Moss to Beyoncé has been seen toting it.
