Outside it was Halloween, but inside Brown Thomas it was Christmas.
Festive shopping kicked off at the Grafton Street store in Dublin as The Marvel Room pop-up shop opened – 54 days before Santa's arrival.
Bespoke pieces, limited-edition bags, in-store exclusives and a €65,000 Paloma Picasso Olive Leaf necklace from Tiffany & Co caught shoppers' attention.
But there were little surprises too, with a €3 lip gloss from NPW in the shape of a designer handbag finding favour with young shoppers looking for stocking-fillers.
The BT team have been busy since the first week of January when they began their international search for The Marvel Room, now in its fourth year.
"It's our favourite project of the year – it's all about thinking outside the box and finding exceptional and unusual gifts," said Shelly Corkery, fashion director of Brown Thomas.
"We collaborate with the world's most prestigious fashion houses, both internationally and in Ireland, to bring our customers the very best Christmas gift ideas."
Exclusive pieces include a Prada handbag in shades of grey costing €1,850.
This year there is a strong Irish presence such as jewellers Karon Jacobson and Natasha Sherling, with Rory Hutton's capsule collection of 10 styles of dickie bows made from Irish linen.
Irish designer Louise Kennedy arrived at The Marvel Room in a waft of perfume which turned out to be her brand new business venture, the Louise Kennedy fragrance, which sells from €95 to €135.
Santa options for fashionistas include a limited-edition Stella McCartney boxed jumper costing €195 – of which there are only 12 – and only two Prada golf bags (€990).
Quirky gift options include the Eat Fit cutlery (€95) featuring a knife, fork and spoon attached to a gym weight. The cutlery is aimed at people looking to lose weight "but not prepared to stop eating".
