IT WAS billed as the show of the rising star, the young style tiger with serious designs on wooing Irish women to introduce luxury touches to their wardrobe.
Umit Kutluk's signature styling is all about strong tailoring and luxurious fabrications, in both his haute couture and his more affordable ready-to-wear collection.
The 32-year-old Turk generated huge interest here two years ago after winning four student competitions in one year, including the DIT Young Designer of the Year.
Since then, Umit has developed a keen following at the Design Centre, Dublin, and has opened his own studio on Merrion Square.
Last night, party guests descending on No 27 included the Turkish ambassador to Ireland and camera crews documenting Umit's fifth collection.
Among items on show were a head-turning gown (€2,600) with a long flourishing skirt of rustling peacock feathers; a plunge front gold tweed jacket with fur trim (€1,150); and a figure-flattering embroidered jacket (€620) over a matching skirt (€420).
