One of Oprah's favourite designers will be showcasing his latest collection in Kerry this August. Don O'Neill, the creative director of couture brand Theia, is the star attraction at The Kerryman/Irish Independent Fashion Show on August 18th.

The Kerry native will be the guest of honour at a number of style events in conjunction with the Rose of Tralee International Festival,  including the Rose Ball, Parade of Roses and Fashion Show.

But his Autumn/Winter '13 showcase, two weeks before New York Fashion Week, has proven to be one of the major highlights of the Irish fashion calendar.

“It is a surreal invitation to be part of an event that I always viewed with awe from the outside," he said of his involvement. "To be recognized for my achievements by the organisers of the Rose of Tralee International Festival is humbling.

"Participating in last year’s sell-out Kerryman/Irish Independent Fashion show was an exciting opportunity to showcase my elaborately embroidered couture evening dresses and give the people of Kerry an opportunity to see what only the fashion press get to see in New York.”

Models from the Limerick based Holman Lee Agency, run by Celia Holman Lee, will be taking to the catwalk in his incredible designs, which have been worn by everyone from Carrie Underwood to Lindsay Lohan.

Other highlights of the festivities include a presentation of the International Collections from The Design Centre in Dublin and the Rose of Tralee Fashion Designer Awards.

Rose of Tralee fashion show producer Celia Holman-Lee, said: “There is so much wonderful talent in Kerry, as we have experienced through Don O’Neill’s success on the international stage. The Rose of Tralee Fashion Designer Awards will help to bring the cream of Kerry’s design talent to the top and act as a springboard to stardom.”

The Best Dressed Lady Competition will be judged by Irish Independent Fashion Editor, Bairbre Power and the 2012 Rose of Tralee, Nicola McEvoy.

The Kerryman Irish Independent Fashion Show on Sunday 18th August will commence with a Wine Reception in the Pavilion Dome before the main event gets underway at 8pm.
