The creative director of the luxury fashion house is known for his eccentric nature and unique eye for design.
Chanel may be owned by brothers Alain and Gerard Wertheimer, but the 79-year-old insists there are no restrictions placed on his creativity.
“They let me do anything I want,” he recently assured the New York Times.
Chanel is known for its knitwear and in October bought the Barrie Knitwear company to help produce their high-end products.
Barrie is now responsible for creating the Chanel two-tone cashmere cardigans, which are handcrafted by workers.
“It’s a great opportunity for us — and we know we make the best with a skilled work force and a focus on quality,” said Jim Carrie, Barrie’s managing director.
“It’s a balance between modern and traditional methods — but we don’t always believe that simple is best,” Clive Brown, Barrie’s commercial director, added.
Barrie is known for its high-quality cashmere knitwear and also makes goods for other luxury brands.
