Will Smith has broken his silence on the death of actor James Avery, who played his no-nonsense Uncle Phil in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
Avery passed away last week at the age of 65 after an operation in an LA hospital, while Smith was travelling to Dubai with his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.
And the Hollywood heavyweight has today revealed the extent of his grief in a Facebook post on his fan page.
"Some of my greatest lessons in Acting, Living and being a respectable human being came through James Avery," he began.
"Every young man needs an Uncle Phil. Rest in Peace."
"This photo was the last time we were together," he wrote of the 2011 image featuring the cast of the hit 1990s sitcom. "I was hoping to start the new year differently but we have lost yet another friend."
