Do you ever notice how people react to you when you smile?
Do you notice the difference between how they normally react to you?
It’s no great surprise — a smile is something that naturally brightens up your day, makes you and the person you are smiling at feel good and it doesn’t cost a penny.
So today’s task is to smile more. Smile when someone asks how your day is going. Smile when you’re saying hello to that normally grumpy neighbour.
Smile at the waiter when ordering your food at the restaurant.
This will change the whole atmosphere of your day, creating a positive and happy vibe and it will also lift the mood of those around you.
Don’t believe me? Well what have you got to lose? Give it a go today — even for an hour, even for one interaction — and see what happens.
Recipe: Soba Buckwheat with pumpkin and sesame seeds
These noodles are fat and cholesterol-free and are a good source of nutrients like lean protein, carbohydrates and thiamine. Plus, they're gluten-free too, providing you choose a brand with 100pc buckwheat flour. Serves four as a light lunch or snack.
You will need
400g soba noodles
2 tbsps of pumpkin seeds
2 tbsps of sesame seeds
Approx 4 tbsps of soy sauce
Bring two litres of water to a boil in a large pot. Add the noodles, separating gently by stirring.
Generally 7-10 minutes will be plenty to cook the noodles, depending on how you like them.
Drain the noodles and rinse well under cold running water to cool the noodles and to remove the starch.
Then add the sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds and the soy sauce to taste.
