Do you have any ailments/health concerns?
No, thankfully, I have always been healthy. As I'm singing all the time, I do have to look after my voice and rest it when I can.
How would you rate your energy levels?
Good, I am constantly on tour with shows most nights of the week so I try to take things fairly easy during the day and save my energy.
Do you get your five a day?
I really try to keep an eye on my diet although not always successfully. I try to eat at least one good meal a day.
How would you rate your stress levels?
New albums can be very stressful. I suppose it's a bit like a new baby -- they have to be watched and minded.
How's your sleep?
Late to bed, late to rise. I am on the go all the time, so my body clock is well used to late nights, and when I'm off, I enjoy a good lie-in and then maybe go off to watch a Soccer or Gaelic match.
Do you take vitamins/supplements?
Not really, I prefer to try and watch my diet.
Do you exercise?
My shows are very energetic, so I get lots of exercise on stage. I also play a bit of racquetball and really enjoy a good run.
Do you cook from scratch?
No, I've really really tried. I don't know if I would have the patience required. Although any time I see the chefs on television it looks like great fun and their dishes always look amazing.
How many alcoholic beverages would you consume in a week?
Not much really, I enjoy the odd pint of Guinness. When you have to perform every night, you can't afford to go mad.
What would you find hard to give up?
I love cheese, someone told me once that it's bad for you if you suffer with sinus problems and it can also give you nightmares -- thankfully, I've got away without them so far.
Do you have any health goals?
I guess, like most people, I dream of living a long and healthy life.

Dinner: Chicken with the works (my favourite).

Elsa's Verdict: Derek, I'd recommend that you work on increasing your fruit and vegetable intake as getting your five a day will help you stay in tip top shape for your performances. Try packing fruits, such as apples, mandarins, plums and bananas, as handy snacks to munch on. You might also consider swapping your usual cheese and crackers for hummus and veggie sticks, which would give you a good vitamin and mineral hit before you go on stage.
